Pekudei

Book of Exodus

Parsha means the weekly Torah portion. Every week, Jewish communities around the world read the next section of the Torah. Here it is, made for kids.

๐Ÿ“œ The Story

Pekudei is the last parsha in the Book of Exodus. It starts with an exact count of all the gold, silver and copper the people gave for the Tabernacle. Moses wanted everyone to see that every gift was used honestly and nothing went missing.

Bezalel son of Uri, the master builder, finished making the special clothes for the priests. These included the ephod, the breastplate with twelve precious stones carved with the names of the twelve tribes, the robe, and the golden headplate that said 'Holy to God.'

When all the work on the Tabernacle was finished, everything was brought to Moses. He saw that it was all made just the way God had commanded, and he blessed the people for their hard work.

On the first day of the month of Nisan, Moses set up the Tabernacle himself, exactly as God had told him. He put up the wooden boards, spread the coverings, and brought in the Ark, the table and the Menorah. Then he set up the altar.

Then something amazing happened. A cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of God filled the Tabernacle. Even Moses could not go in. From then on, whenever the Israelites traveled in the desert, the cloud rested on the Tabernacle by day and a fire glowed in it by night, where all Israel could see it. This is how the Book of Exodus ends.
