This is a story from Anafeam Kids. It's called The Thank-You Trail.
Leah and Benny Adler aren't real people. We made them up. But the people who help them are a lot like the people who help you.
Every morning in the Adler house started the same way. Benny woke up first, because Benny always woke up first. He sat up in bed, rubbed his eyes, and said the short prayer that Jewish kids say the moment they wake up. It's called Modeh Ani. It means I thank You. It's a way of saying thank You to God for giving us another day.
Then Benny jumped out of bed and ran down the hall to wake up Leah, which Leah did not thank him for at all.
