This is a story from Anafeam Kids. It's called The Neighbor Who Didn't Wave.

Leah and Benny Adler aren't real people. We made them up. But you have probably met a Mr. Gold or two.

Mr. Gold lived in the green house across the street. He had a white mustache, a brown hat, and a little dog named Pickle who barked at leaves.

Every morning, when Leah and Benny walked to the bus stop, Mr. Gold was out on his porch with his newspaper. And every morning, he waved. A big wave, the whole arm, like he was cleaning a window in the air. Benny always waved back with both arms, which made Mr. Gold laugh.
